ZOË
ZIRRSEN
She/Her/HersZoë Ziirsen is a Danish-American artist, currently based in Copenhagen. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Cooper Union, in New York City. Although she works in medias like drawing and sculpture, her work also includes projects like a clothing collection and dinner parties. Projects through which she hopes to nurture and build community. Discussing ideas related to both the personal and the communal, her work is eager to find ways in which to communicate care and is driven by themes of intimacy, nature, care and critique of constructs surrounding whiteness, gender and love. To represent and explore these themes, she makes use of tools like the reusability and practicality of things otherwise lost, both in terms of subject matter and materiality.
Her series Work Out (right) focuses on repetitive media and techniques, giving what these can create but also finding they function as research and give a deeper awareness into the themes of love and care.
